The United Nations (CNS) -- The UN Postal Administration (UNPA) has issued a set of stamps featuring a performance by disabled Chinese people called "The Bodhisattva with a Thousand Hands" (Qianshou Guanyin).
The stamp was launched at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday.
"It is an honor for our art troupe and our country, for the dance to be featured on UN stamps," said Tai Lihua, head of the China Disabled Art Troupe.
It is a wise decision for the UNPA to choose "Qianshou Guanyin" as one of the themes for the stamps, because the dance represents an influential work of art from China, according to an official at the UNPA.
To commemorate the issuance of the stamp, a conference will be jointly held next Monday by the UNPA and the Chinese Mission to the United Nations.
There are fewer than 120,000 of the stamps, which are valued at 1.90 Swiss francs (2.09 US dollars).
