(ECNS) -- Located in Vancouver's Chinatown, the Sam Kee Building, which is the shallowest (or narrowest) commercial building in the world, has been slated for renovation.
A total of 10,000 Canadian dollars (9,715 US dollars) will be earmarked by the Vancouver municipal government to renovate the building, according to local city councillor Tony Tang.
"The renovation project is expected to cost 20,000 to 30,000 Canadian dollars. Besides the financial support from the government, the rest of the money will be raised by the building's owner," said Tang. "The Vancouver City Council will hold a conference next Tuesday to discuss the issue of renovation and funding allocation."
The 10,000 dollars will come from a special fund allocated every year by the local government to renovate historical relics in the city, Tang said.
Located at 8 West Pender Street in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Sam Kee Building is a historic location crowned as the shallowest commercial building in the world by the Guinness Book of Records.
