(ECNS)-- A stamp featuring portraits of Madame Soong Mei-ling, one of the most influential Chinese women of the 20th century, has become a hit on the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, according to a report released by the Taiwan newspaper Want Daily.
The Chunghwa Post Company issued the stamp to commemorate Madame Soong, who was very active on the political stage. This year marks the 10th anniversary of her death.
The stamp carries the value of 12 New Taiwan Dollars (US$0.41) and has a circulation of 850,000.
When the stamp was launched, some people lined up for it early in the morning. The price of the stamp has already soared to 100 New Taiwan Dollars, nearly 10 times its face value.
Some mainlanders have asked Taiwan locals to purchase the commemorative stamp for them at a higher price.
Mainland collectors have paid as much as 100 yuan, or 500 New Taiwan Dollars, for the stamp.
