(ECNS) -- Insects found on a Beijing-Shanghai high speed train have been confirmed by health authorities as bloodsucking bugs, according to the Beijing Youth Daily.

A netizen named "Sanbu112" on Monday posted a video of some insects he found on bunk beds in Carriage 06 of the D313 train, which departed for Shanghai from Beijing on August 28, 2013. In the video, the white quilt is stained with blood after the bugs were squashed.

He also wrote on his Sina Weibo that he had several itchy bumps on his body after being bitten by the insects.

Zeng Xiaopeng, vice director of the Beijing Disease Control and Prevention Center, said the insects in the video are bloodsucking bugs. "Reports of the bugs have been intensive this year," she said, adding that it could indicate that the bugs are making a comeback after three to four years of absence.

Railway authorities said they are investigating to find out whether the bugs were bred in the train or brought aboard by passengers.
