(ECNS) -- The Vienna Musikverein, a concert hall in Vienna, has become popular with players and music groups from China in recent years.
Official statistics show that 133 music groups from China have staged performances at the Musikverein this year, yet attendances at the concerts are generally low.
Actors, amateur music groups, music lovers, and even students from China can come and pay for their own "shows" at the Musikverein, which charges 20,000 to 30,000 Euro for rental fees, a reasonable amount for newly wealthy Chinese.
The Musikverein has gained popularity among Chinese audiences since 1998 when the China Central Nationalities Orchestra staged a Spring Festival concert there. Since then, staging concerts in the hall has emerged as a symbol of high musicianship.
The Musikverein is just one of several music halls run by the Society of Friends of the Music in Vienna.
