(ECNS) -- A Weibo user claims that a Shanghai-based company has warned its employees against using Shanghai dialect, according to china.cnr.cn.
Employees will be fired if caught speaking the dialect five times in a month, no matter where they are located at the workplace, says the microblog post.
The rule was posted by a netizen under the name "laoyaozuoxiaoer" and quickly aroused controversy on the Internet, with many calling it discriminatory.
China's Employment Promotion Law has stipulated that each company should create fair employment conditions and eliminate discrimination.
