Shaoguan (CNS) -- The administrative committee of Mount Danxia, a noted scenic area near Shaoguan city, Guangdong province, has launched a global campaign to collect poetry about Mount Danxia.
Starting from Wednesday this week, participants can sign up for the event and submit their works online at shirenwang.com.
According to the rules of the competition, every entry should be written as a seven-character octave, an ancient Chinese form of poetry that contains eight lines, with each line having seven characters.
Poems by the top three writers will be carved into precipices at Mount Danxia. The top three winners will also receive 30,000 yuan (US$4,902.5) as reward.
The event is jointly launched by the administrative committee and the municipal government of Shaoguan. The submission deadline is November 18.
In the 2010 UNESCO list of world heritage sites, Mount Danxia was recorded as a natural World Heritage Site as part of China's Danxia landform.
