(ECNS) -- London Mayor Boris Johnson on Tuesday traveled from Xidan station to Gongzhufen station on Beijing's subway Line 1, according to the Beijing News.
Johnson entered the metro station in the afternoon accompanied by subway officials, and praised the station for it cleanliness.
He also commended the price of riding the subway, which is only two yuan (0.3 US dollars).
"I have long looked forward to experiencing the subway in Beijing. I have been to this city twice, but I didn't have a chance to ride the subway," he said.
Johnson said he was also impressed by the huge travel volume handled by the metro.
Riding Beijing's subway is one part of Johnson's six-day trip in China. His aim is to attract more investment for London and boost Chinese tourism to the city.
