(ECNS)-- A teenager in Taiwan has hacked into 1,237 websites in two months, ranking him the 19th best hacker in the world, according to a Taiwan media report on Wednesday.
The hacker is a high school student surnamed Xu from Yunlin county, the local police said.
Within just two months, the boy nicknamed "XerL9MeI" hacked into government and commercial websites. He changed the content on the websites and left the message, "You got hacked by XerL9MeI" on the sites.
The student never received professional training in information technology. All of his hacking knowledge was acquired from books.
Xu is now being detained by local police, and his mainframe computer has also been confiscated.
Based on the number of websites hacked by Xu, Global Hacked Site Statistics ranked him 19th best hacker in the world.
