(ECNS) -- The world's first full-scale Titanic cruise ship will be built in Daying city, Southwest China's Sichuan province, at a tourist spot in a large seaside resort. The construction will begin by the end of the year, and one million yuan ($164,282) will be invested, Sichuan-based West China City Daily said.
The plan was announced at the 14th Western China International Fair in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province, on Wednesday.
Seven Star Energy Group, the investor, said the new cruise ship will be designed and manufactured by an American high technology company according to the majority of Titanic's design papers, which had been lost after the ship sank and cost the company millions of dollars to obtain.
Su Shaojun, chairman of the investing company, said they have confidence to rebuild the Titanic and it will truly represent the cruise ship, not just a copycat.
Charlie Jianling Gao, executive manager of the American company's Asian branch, said in addition to the outside, the inner structure of the ship will also be the same as the Titanic, which includes large dining halls and high-end hotels.
Su also said that with the help of technology, people will be able to experience the ship's hitting an iceberg and sinking into the ocean.
A museum about the Titanic will be built to help people learn about the cruise ship, Gao added.
Insiders said they have contacted the director of the film "Titanic" and invited the team to the unveiling ceremony when the ship is finished.
Daying is famous for its saltwater lake, known as "China's Dead Sea."
