(ECNS) – A row of affordable houses on Yichang road in Qingdao have been painted with fake windows in what some believe is an effort by the construction company to cut corners, according to cnr.cn.
A construction worker at the site said the windows are decorations, and because they are on the walls of stairwells, they won't affect residents.
A department at the local government confirmed that, saying the housing project was built in accordance with planning, and that the faux windows were made to decorate facades.
The Qingdao municipal government claimed on its official Weibo account Wednesday night that they had ordered the construction company to rectify the ornamental windows, which have been "misunderstood" and caused an "adverse social effect."
