(ECNS) – Olympic champion hurdler Liu Xiang attended a training camp Sunday for the Chinese track and field team in the Jinggang Mountains, located in central China's Jiangxi province, the Beijing Times reports.
Wearing a Red Army cap and dressed in uniform, Liu participated in daily events at the camp, which is held for athletes to prepare for the 2014 World Champions in Athletics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
The Jinggang Mountains are known as the birthplace of the Chinese Red Army, predecessor to the People's Liberation Army, and the "cradle of Chinese revolution."
Liu said he hasn't set a timescale for his return to the field. "I don't know whether I can come back again, but I'll try my best."
Sun Haiping, the champion's coach, said Liu is still doing rehabilitation training, and that his return date hasn't been set.
