(ECNS) -- One-fourth of the young single Chinese people polled in a recent survey said the loosened one-child policy will affect their standards for selecting spouses.
According to a key reform officially announced last Friday, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has given the green light to couples wanting to have two children if one of them is an only child, a significant change to the current one-child policy.
Jointly released by the Southern Metropolis Daily and DG.QQ.com, the online survey focused on the fertility plans of Chinese as a result of the new birth policy.
Among all the single netizens surveyed, one-fourth of them said their standards for spouse selection have changed, and most of them said they would look for only-children as mates.
Also according to the survey, 70 percent of respondents said they support the loosened one-child policy.
Among those who still don't want a second child, 80 percent of them cited cost as the major reason.
