Christopher Atkins is at work.
(ECNS) -- A freelance British writer has introduced Chinese football to mainstream media in the West, Zhengzhou Evening News said.
Christopher Atkins, 25, introduced some young Chinese players, including Zhang Linpeng and Sun Ke, through goal.com.
He usually writes four to five stories a week on Chinese football for Bleacher Report, a provider of sports content to CNN and ESPN, leading sports entertainment companies in the Unites States, and goal.com, the largest soccer website in the world.
He wrote a commentary for BBC after Guangzhou Evergrande won the Asian Football Confederation's Champions League title earlier this month.
Atkins began writing soccer stories in London after graduation, and then he came to China with his Chinese girlfriend.
He became known among football circles in China after he published an article about Luiz Muriqui, a Brazilian player who is currently playing for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League, on Sohu.com, one of the biggest websites in China.
Now he is the most popular foreign reporter on Chinese football and is a columnist on Hupu, a burgeoning Chinese sports website.
