(ECNS) -- A solo exhibition by painter Mianhua called "The Rhythm" opened Wednesday afternoon at the Beijing Today Art Museum.
The exhibition is presenting more than 40 works, which aim to convey the rhythms of nature lost to many city dwellers.
"Mianhua" means "cotton" in Chinese. The artist says she chose the name because she likes cotton, which is simple, unpolished and sincere.
Starting her career as an editor, Mianhua suddenly gave up everything and followed her heart by picking up a paint brush.
Several years later, her works have become sought after by collectors, and some have gone on display at international exhibitions.
Mianhua says her childhood was spent in the countryside and she cannot forget the rustic beauty there. Nature has become a primary source of inspiration for her works.
The exhibition continues through Dec 24.
