(ECNS) -- The family of a 14-year-old girl in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region don't feel vindicated after 10 senior citizens were jailed last year for raping her, as the family is being shunned by villagers who blame it all on the girl, Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported.
In the past two years, the left-behind girl, who lives with her grandparents in a remote village of Yulin city, was repeatedly raped by 10 old men, the oldest of them 74.
She said there were at least 18 men who raped her and 15 of them were seniors in her village. Cheng Meiguang, 60, raped her 15 times, according to a court statement.
The rapists admitted their crimes after the girl's father reported them to police and were sent to prison last October and November. The prison terms of four of the men ranged from two and a half years to 11 years, while the other six are awaiting sentencing.
However, the family has been shunned by villagers since then. A middle-aged woman said angrily, "The girl seduced those old men for money." Another woman agreed, "It is her fault, and those old men had never done anything wrong before."
A village cadre said no villagers welcomed the girl, and she was even driven away when she visited her classmates. Rumors and anger followed her wherever she went.
Finally, the girl's father sent her away from the village.
A villager said the girl's grandfather, a lame old man who is said to have a bad temper, had disputes with villagers over land before.
