(ECNS) -- A 16-month-old boy in Danyang city, Jiangsu province, has had a needle removed from his left kidney, only days after a 14-month-old boy's lung was punctured by a five-centimeter needle, the Modern Express said on Tuesday.
The 16-month-old named Shuoshuo lives with his parents in a rented apartment in Ba'er village, Houxiang county of Danyang.
On Friday night Hu Peipei, the boy's mother, found a red lump with a pinprick in its middle on the left side of the boy's back.
At a local hospital, doctors took an X-ray and found a needle-shaped metal object had punctured his left kidney.
A 3.5 cm sewing needle with a broken eye was surgically removed from the boy, but the fractured part of the needle hasn't been found, said a doctor. Shuoshuo is now recovering at the hospital.
Only two days after Shuoshuo was admitted to hospital, a needle was reportedly found in the cotton trousers of a 14-year-old girl who lives in the same neighborhood.
In another similar case on Jan 7, a 14-month-old boy who also lived in Houxiang county was found to have been stabbed from within by a needle in his lung, dangerously close to the heart.
The two cases share several parallels. They both took place in Houxiang county, and the apartments of the two families involved are only four to five kilometers away from each other.
The attacked babies are both too young to talk.
Wang Dengfeng, father of Shuoshuo decided to report the case to a local police station on Tuesday.
