(ECNS) -- Residents in Jianhu county, Yancheng city, Jiangsu province, are joining forces to help a migrant worker look for his hard-earned money, Modern Express reported on Thursday.
Sun Qinghao, 37, from Sichuan province, and his fellow villagers had been working on a construction site in Jianhu for a year.
On Tuesday, Sun lost a bag containing 140,000 yuan ($23,130) on his way home. The money is the earnings of five migrant workers, including Sun himself.
He lost the bag on a tricycle that took him from his workplace to a bus station.
After noticing the bag was missing, he reported the loss to local police.
According to Sun's description, he lost the black bag on a blue tricycle whose driver is a man over 40 years old.
"The bag is full of hard-earned money of my workmates," said and anxious Sun, adding that the families of his workmates are poor.
Police tried to help Sun find the tricycle by checking traffic surveillance video clips but failed, since there were only few scenes showing its vague figure.
"There are more than 1,000 tricycles without plates in the city, so it is hard to find the one we want," said Zhang Zhicheng, a police inspector.
A manager at the construction site drove Sun around to look for the tricycle. Over 20 workmates at the construction site also helped Sun look for the tricycle around the city.
A TV station in Jianhu also broadcast a lost and found notice for Sun for free.
Netizens in the city are also updating news about the case on a municipal online forum.
As of press time, the lost money had not been found.
Sun told a reporter that if the money cannot be found, he would try his best to compensate his workmates.
