Beijing (ECNS) -- China's former premier Zhu Rongji has been listed as one of the top 100 donors in China for giving 20 million yuan (3.3 million US dollars) to an education foundation, according to a list issued by the China Philanthropy Research Institute (CPRI) on Thursday.
It is the first time for a retired Chinese leader to appear on the list, on which Zhu ranks 70th.
The "2013 Chinese Top 100 Donors" was released by the CPRI under Beijing Normal University. 2013 marks the third consecutive year the list has been issued.
The top three donors are Hainan Airlines Group (8.51 billion yuan); Dang Yanbao, president of Baofeng Energy (about 1.15 billion yuan); and Wang Jianlin, chairman of Dalian Wanda Group (about 0.43 billion yuan).
Nearly half the donors on the list are from the real estate sector, the most among all other industries.
According to the list, about 63 percent of the contributions don't specify what the donations are for.
A total of 14.7 billion yuan was donated by the 100 contributors.
