(ECNS) -- A heating supplier in Weifang city, Shandong province, has reportedly decided to use human urine to stop the theft of water from heating pipes, the Qilu Evening News reported on Friday.
The supplier "Anqiu Shengyuan Thermal Power Co., Ltd" has posted advertisements in residential communities seeking urine from the public at a price of 10 yuan (1.65 US dollars) per barrel.
"We are doing this out of frustration," said a worker at the company, who added that stealing has greatly impacted the company's operations.
"We once tried to stop the stealing by injecting chemical preservatives into the hot water, but failed."
The company has had to add new water every day to make up for shortages caused by theft.
The employee didn't respond to questions of whether or not urine had already been put into heating pipelines.
