(ECNS) – China Mobile has made public the price of using 4G mobile services on the Chinese mainland, which is more than twice what it costs in Hong Kong, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
China Mobile Hong Kong launched a trading platform allowing its customers to trade their data traffic in gigabytes (GB). Sellers can charge 15 to 60 HK dollars per GB but have to pay some administrative fees, which is 15 HK dollars per GB on each transaction.
According to China Mobile's charging plan, a package of 1GB of data traffic and 500 minutes of calls costs 238 yuan per month, and 5GB of data traffic and 4,000 minutes cost 588 yuan.
In Hong Kong, China Mobile charges 128 HK dollars (around 100 yuan) per month for 1GB of data traffic and 1,800 minutes of local calls, over 50 percent cheaper than the 1GB package on the mainland, and only 218 HK dollars (174 yuan) for 5GB of data traffic and unlimited calls.
Currently, there are four communications operators providing 4G service in Hong Kong, and they all charge less than China Mobile charges on the mainland.
