(ECNS) – A registration to see a specialist at Beijing Children's Hospital costs only 14 yuan (2.3 US dollars), but the price surges to 300 to 400 yuan (49.6 to 66.1 US dollars) when bought from a scalper, the Legal Evening News has reported.
Police captured six hospital scalpers in a raid at Beijing Children's Hospital on Thursday morning.
In an earlier secret investigation, scalpers said that even though they charged much more for registrations, there was still a market for them.
What's more, a registration at a VIP clinic costs ten times as much as the fee charged by the hospital, according to the scalpers.
Police at Xicheng district of Beijing began a crackdown on hospital scalpers in the area starting on Jan 15. Fifty-five scalpers have been captured so far, with four under criminal detention and 51 under administrative detention.
