(ECNS) – Fudan University denied a report that it had announced the results of an investigation on Professor Wang Zhengmin, who was accused of plagiarism by a former student, according to eastday.com.
A earlier report in the Beijing News said the university denied the professor committed plagiarism.
Last November, Wang Yucheng, the former student, revealed that Wang Zhengmin, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and expert at the affiliated Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Hospital of Fudan University, copied the technology of an Australian-made cochlear implant in his development of China's homemade product.
The professor denied the accusation, saying the Australian side hasn't challenged his products.
CAS, as well as Fudan University, responded it would investigate the case.
An official from the university said on Friday that it had not released any conclusions and will further communicate with CAS.
Wang Zhengmin said he was confident about CAS's investigation, which hasn't been released yet.
In a video released by China Central Television on Jan 2, two of professor Wang's students, Fan Baohua and Shen Yihu, said the development team imitated the Australian product and developed its own cochlear implant.
But later both claimed the footage twisted what they were trying to say and that the homemade cochlear implant was not plagiarism.
