(ECNS) -- The future parents-in-law of a 23-year-old woman removed the doorway of their apartment as the unusually tall woman kept hitting her head on the upper frame of the doors, according to dbw.cn on Tuesday.
The 1.97-meter Liang Tianyun was born in Hubei province and played on the Chinese National Youth Basketball Team after graduating from a sports school in Wuhan.
She went to Daqing, Heilongjiang province, in 2013 after retiring from sports, to work as a fitness instructor at Dongfeng New Village.
In Daqing, Liang met her boyfriend and was invited to spend Spring Festival with his parents for the first time.
Since Liang is much taller than the doors in the apartment of her future parents-in-law, she had to bend down to go through the doors, but still she kept hitting her head accidentally.
Knowing their future daughter-in-law hit the door frame nine times in only four days during her stay at the home, the couple decided to replace the regular-sized doors for larger ones.
Although Liang said there was no need, the couple insisted and removed the doors of their department last Tuesday, the fifth day of the holiday.
"We can't allow the door to keep a family member outside," the couple said.
