Chen has folded 999 paper roses out of 200,000 yuan ($32,990) as a proposal gift for his girlfriend.
(ECNS) -- A man has folded 999 paper roses out of 200,000 yuan ($32,990) as a proposal gift for his girlfriend, a Zhejiang-based news website reported.
The man identified only as Chen, an IT programmer, has worked in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province since 2009. He visited his girlfriend's parents during this Spring Festival holiday.
Although his girlfriend's mother didn't show opposition, she implied many times that Chen should buy a house and a car if he wanted to marry her daughter.
Chen decided to use all of his savings to fold roses for a proposal. "The money is far from enough to buy a house, and I think buying a car is unnecessary," he said.
Folding a rose requires two 100-yuan notes and he has folded every night since Feb 8. He asked friends and colleagues for help in order to finish before his girlfriend's birthday on Wednesday.
Chen posted his plan online and won support from netizens.
According to another report, Chen made the proposal on Wednesday night and his girlfriend said "yes."
