(ECNS) -- Nearly 70 percent of respondents in an online survey say they will spend Friday with their families, as this year the traditional Lantern Festival falls on the same day as Western Valentine's Day, Shanghai Morning Post reported.

Lantern Festival is a day to spend with family, while Valentine's Day is a romantic day for lovers. The newspaper conducted an online survey to find out how people are handling it.

Among more than 6,000 netizens in the survey, 29.36 percent will be with family, and 39.22 percent said they will bring their lovers home and celebrate together.

Only 15.19 percent of respondents said they will choose their lovers over family, while the rest said they will choose neither.

Lu, a Shanghai citizen, said the whole family eating together on Lantern Festival is an important ritual since her childhood.

Another citizen, Liang, said he is going to eat sweet dumplings with his parents in the morning and be with his beloved for supper.
