(ECNS) – After President Xi Jinping hosted a dinner for Kuomintang honorary chairman Lien Chan and his delegation on Tuesday, two restaurants in Shaanxi province have launched a "Xi-Lien set meal" at a price of 58 yuan (US$9.55 dollars), the Chinese Business View reported.
Both Xi and Lien have ancestral roots in Shaanxi province.
The snacks they ate at the dinner included a Chinese burger, mutton paomo (pancakes in mutton soup), Biangbiang noodles — a type of noodle very popular in Shaanxi, and cold noodles.
"The fact that the national leader treated his guests to Shaanxi snacks encourages us to promote Shaanxi cuisine," said Song Wenjing, general manager of one of the restaurants that serve the special meal.
Song said the set meal was worth 58 yuan, and would be popular among consumers.
The set meal in the other restaurant includes the burger, Biangbiang noodles and four other cold dishes.
Wang Xiqing, a local scholar on cuisine, said the meal of Shaanxi snacks might be as popular as Qingfeng buns.
Xi dropped in to a Qingfeng bun restaurant at the end of last year for lunch, which has made the restaurant and its buns popular across the country.
