(ECNS)-- A 14-year-old cat in Shenyang, Liaoning province, has saved its owner from a heart attack by doing "emergency treatment" for him, the Shenyang Evening News reported on Thursday.
Pan said he and his pet cat Mimi have been keeping each other's company since his wife died.
"I always chat with my cat when I feel bored," he said. "Mimi once saved my life."
He recalled that he suffered from a heart attack while he was home alone, with no family and friends around to help.
"The situation was very dangerous, as I had difficulty breathing," Pan said. "The pain made me too weak to take self-saving measures, so I just lay on the bed hopelessly.
"Just when I started feeling desperate, Mimi came to me. She jumped on my chest and stroked me with her paws, like doing emergency treatment for me. Under the care of the pet, I felt much better, about 10 minutes later. Then I got up and took medicine."
