(ECNS) -- An 8-month pregnant woman ran in the Undie Run event amid heavy smog on Sunday in Beijing, the Beijing News reported on Monday.
Held at the Beijing Olympic Forest Park, the annual 3.5 km event kicked off at 8 a.m. and attracted over 100 participants wearing only underwear or shorts.
Many participants wore wigs or underpants with amusing pictures and painted their faces and bodies.
The most eye-catching runner was a woman who has been pregnant for eight months. She lapped the course in 20 minutes wearing a T-shirt and shorts.
When asked about the risk, the woman said, "The risks of outdoor sports are nothing more than catching a cold or getting injured from falling down, but a lack of exercise may cause diseases like gestational hypertension for women. So I chose to attend the event to keep healthy and prepare for delivery."
