(ECNS)-- A woman from Hong Kong who tried to go through customs in Shenzhen with commemorative Renminbi banknotes worth 250,000 yuan ($40,892) was stopped by officers, Sing Tao Daily reported on Friday.

The woman was stopped by customs officers at Luohu Port as she tried to pass customs there at noon on Sunday.

A total of 25 series of commemorative banknotes featuring bills of various value were found in her bag.

Because the woman failed to declare the value of her belongings to customs, the money was seized and transferred to the anti-smuggling department.
