(ECNS) – A black Buick parked at the gate of a hospital in Huangshan, Anhui province, blocked two ambulances carrying patients on Monday morning, according to People.com.cn.
The incident happened at the People's Hospital of Huangshan and angered a crowd of people at the site.
One of the ambulances was carrying two patients who had been buried in the landslide for over nine hours.
A doctor surnamed Lin said the injured was sent to emergency room at about 9:30 am, and underwent amputation. "Time is everything for critically injured patients, " said him.
A citizen surnamed Huang said he first saw the Buick stop at the gate and honk its horn at about 9 am. After a while the driver got out and argued with security guards, then locked his car and walked into the hospital.
The guards had explained that no parking space was available, but the driver refused to believe it.
Around 9:15 am, local police arrived to find two ambulances blocked from accessing the hospital building.
Several minutes later, the man walked out of the hospital and moved the car under instruction from the police.
The Buick was an official car belonging to the Huizhou Branch of the Huangshan Tobacco Monopoly Bureau.
A director at the bureau said the driver surnamed Shan purchased office desks in the morning and then went to visit a dentist. "He was not using the official car for private purposes," he said. But police said that "Shan was taking someone to the hospital."
The driver has been suspended from his work and his leader, chief at Huizhou Branch of Huangshan Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, surnamed Wu, has been removed from office, the Xin'an Evening News reported on the afternoon of Tuesday.
