(ECNS) -- A special "talking booth" where the public can voice their demands has been launched as a pilot program in Pingyao county of Shanxi province, the Shanxi Evening News reported on Monday.
Located at Fengyan Square in downtown Pingyao, Jinzhong city, the "talking booth" was put into use on Monday.
Resembling a telephone booth, it provides a private room for citizens to offer suggestions about the county's development, and also voice the difficulties they face in their daily lives.
The voices and images of its users are recorded by video.
Comments and suggestions made by the public will be filed by the county's party committee, and constructive opinions will be taken into consideration by local policymakers.
The local government said the number of such booths is expected to increase, and will serve as a bridge of communication between the public and officials.
