(ECNS) -- Chinese Internet users requested help from China's moon rover Yutu, which "came back to life" on Friday, to find the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, New Express Daily observed on Monday.  [Special coverage]

China's moon rover Yutu woke up again at 6:42 am on Friday, after its third dormancy. "Please stop poking me… I am getting up! May I have some carrot pie?" said a post on Sina Weibo in the voice of Yutu on Thursday.

Thousands of Chinese Internet users sent best wishes to the rover via the account as the third lunar day began. Some netizens told the rover about some sad events that happened while it was sleeping. Some even asked Yutu to help search for the missing plane.

Yutu replied on Weibo, "I was told about the incident, and the missing plane, please tell me these incidents are not true."

"Sorry, but I can't help, since it is beyond my capability to see things on earth with my eyes. I will try my best to help my human friends," it said in another post.

Yutu, named after the pet rabbit of the lunar goddess Chang'e in Chinese mythology, touched down on the moon's surface on Dec 15, hours after lunar probe Chang'e-3 landed.

A Sina Weibo account with the voice of Yutu has drawn more than 630,000 followers, and users have been leaving comments as if Yutu were a living figure from Chinese myth.

The account had not been updated since Jan 27, after problems emerged before the rover entered its second dormancy on the moon on Jan 25. More than 20,000 comments were left calling for it to get up and encouraging it to fight.

Yutu was designed to roam the lunar surface to survey the moon's geological structure and surface substances, looking for natural resources. It has now survived past its design life of three months.
