(ECNS) – A Taiwan potter traded one of his ceramic creations for a sports car worth NT$16 million ($524,800), the Taiwan-based China Times reported.
Huang Cheng-nan made nine eggshell porcelain bowls with a thickness measuring 0.1 millimeters and 30 centimeters in diameter. One was exhibited at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery in Kaohsiung, catching the eye of a collector, who offered an Aston Martin Rapide for one of the bowls.
More than six years ago, Huang traded an eggshell bowl for a Porsche 911.
Huang said he once refused an offer of a Lamborghini for eight of his bowls. "My next goal is a Ferrari 458."
An Aston Martin dealer in Taiwan said each Rapide was customized and the asking price of NT$16 million was normal. "The basic price of a Rapide is NT$16.8 million."
Huang has created the thinnest porcelain in the world, 0.1 to 0.2 millimeters in thickness, and his masterpieces were displayed at the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
