(ECNS) -- Online shopping is considered a smart way to save money and time, but when it comes to buying foods and cosmetics, Chinese netizens think twice, the Chongqing Morning News said.
A netizen called "love is season wind" posted on an online forum in Chongqing that she definitely won't buy electronic products, cosmetics or gold jewelry online.
The topic attracted many netizens, who then listed five types of things they won't buy online.
The first type was food, including healthcare products, medicine and infant formula. Buying food online is risking your life on the products' safety, netizens said.
Cosmetics were in second place. It is not easy to identify whether a cosmetic product is genuine, and netizens prefer department stores to online shops.
Another type is imported luxuries, as buying them from an intermediary is not secure. Netizens prefer to buy them through friends and relatives abroad.
Furniture and gold were in the last two places. Netizens said they are pricey and it is troublesome if quality problems occur.
However, some netizens still doubt whether they can really remove those things from their online shopping lists.
E-commerce companies Amazon and Dangdang said yesterday they have shut down several online retailers accused of selling counterfeit cosmetics via their platforms.
