Meizhou (ECNS) – Two men with guns robbed a jewelry store in Meizhou, Guangdong province, last Sunday night during a rainstorm.
The stolen jewelry was estimated to be worth 1.3 million yuan.
Local police are offering a reward of 50,000 yuan for information leading to the arrest of the robbers.
According to the store's monitoring video, two men in raincoats and motorcycle helmets rode a motorcycle to the store at 21:25 on Sunday. One threatened shop assistants and three customers to a corner of the store, and the other smashed glass cabinets with a hammer and grabbed the jewelry. They left less than 2 minutes later.
A shop assistant at a clothing shop nearby said it was pouring rain at that time, and they heard nothing of the robbery until police came.
Police said the two suspects were 25 to 30 years old, 1.6 to 1.7 meters in height, and they hoped witnesses will come forward to help solve the case.
Heavy rainstorms have hit Guangdong province since March 28. By 18:00 on April 1, 14 people had died, 14 injured and three were missing.
