(ECNS) -- Panda-themed Macarons are becoming popular among people in Belgium as two "panda ambassadors" from China are now in the country, xinhuanet.com said on Tuesday.
Called "Pandaron," the panda-themed Macaron features a black-and-white panda face. The vanilla-flavored dessert is the latest product provided by Wittamer & Co, a time-honored dessert maker of Belgium.
The Pandarons are sold in pairs for 4.5 euros. The limited edition dessert has emerged as a best seller.
The dessert is being offered to observe the arrival of two Chinese panda ambassadors, Hao Hao and Xing Hui, according to the CEO of Wittamer.
"Normally, we provide a total of 4,500 regular Macarons at our stores. As for the Pandarons, the number is only 900, since making a Pandaron is more time-consuming," he said
"Our next plan is to provide panda-themed chocolates," the CEO added.
The two pandas, a male and a female, were sent by China to Belgium in February for a 15-year international research cooperation project.
