Kunming (ECNS) – A zoo in Yunnan province has installed a TV for a giant panda named "Sijia" that has been deprived of companionship.
The TV plays video shot during Sijia's childhood with its companion Meixi.
Sijia is one of the three pandas sent to the Yunnan Wild Animals Park for foster care after the Wolong National Natural Reserve in Sichuan province was badly damaged in the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.
The two other pandas, Qianqian and Meixi, were sent back to Sichuan, leaving Sijia alone in Yunnan.
Sijia started to eat less and behave abnormally after Meixi left. Many citizens suggested that the panda was depressed and should get more exercise.
In addition to the TV, workers at the park have installed a swing, a horizontal bar and parallel bars, and placed models of pandas in Sijia's room.
