(ECNS)-- A 22-year-old, 300-kilogram mentally handicapped man in Shandong province has been suffering from diseases caused by obesity and is in urgent need of financial help from the public, the Peninsula Metropolitan News reported on Tuesday.

Because Sun Liang was too heavy to move by himself, more than 10 medical staffers and neighbors helped move him onto a door plank before they got him into an ambulance.

"The tires on the ambulance went flat after he was put in the car," his brother said.

Sun was born big and lives in a county under Liangcheng town of Rizhao city.

He couldn't go to school due to his mental retardation inherited from his mother. Overeating and lack of exercise led to more weight gain. Sun has gone from 150 kilograms to 300 kilograms in the past three years, according to his brother.
