Xu Shanping, who is head of a private tutorial school in the city, was once a college instructor at Zhejiang University.
To motive teachers, Xu made the bet with five teachers at the school.
According to the bet, each teacher would be responsible for 10 students for one month. If any one of the five teachers failed to get positive feedback from the parents of their students, Xu would shave her head.

However, Xu said she has no regrets about the bet. "Teachers at the school have become more engaged in their work after they witnessed my commitment as a teacher," Xu said.
