(ECNS)-- A recent investigation shows that towels and bedding offered at most budget hotels in China don't meet hygienic standards, cnr.cn said on Monday.
The investigation, jointly launched by 22 consumers associations around the country, shows that 60 percent of budget hotel chains fail to provide clean towels and bedding.
The total bacterial count and pH levels of the disqualified towels and bedding don't meet national standards.
The usage of inferior detergents and inadequate cleaning are the major reasons that contribute to the hygienic hazards brought about by unclean hotel linens, according to Xu Ming, an official from the municipal consumers association of Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
