(ECNS) -- A father in Taiwan has taken to an unusual way of keeping his son cool in the summer heat: dressing him in shorts made of watermelon.

A Taiwanese surnamed Fan posted a photo of his 5-year-old son wearing a watermelon, which has gone viral on social networking sites, the United Daily News reported.

Fan said he came up with the idea on Sunday after scooping all flesh out from a watermelon.

The boy was excited when wearing it and said "Dad is cool!"

The T-back-like design is "sexy with no wardrobe malfunction," netizens said.

Fan said the fruit's refreshing qualities could also be effective. He hopes to try father-son outfits with other fruits next time.
