(ECNS) -- A mechanism for mutual visits between cross-Straits affairs chiefs has been established following the visit by the mainland's Taiwan affairs chief Zhang Zhijun, Zhang's counterpart in Taiwan said on Monday.
Wang Yu-Chi, head of Taiwan's mainland affairs council, hailed Zhang's visit during a report to the island's legislature, saying it was positive and successful.
He said the communication channel between the two sides will be improved thanks to the mechanism and regular communication, adding that the development of cross-Straits ties is stepping forward.
Wang also said they had reached consensus on many issues and achieved positive results during the meeting with Zhang.
