(ECNS)— The official website of Immigration New Zealand crashed on Tuesday morning, when the country opened its 2014-15 working holiday visa (WHV) quota applications to Chinese citizens, according to skykiwi.com, a Chinese-language website based in New Zealand.
New Zealand has launched a China Working Holiday Scheme, which allows 1,000 Chinese citizens, 18 to 30 years old, to come to New Zealand for up to 12 months.
The annual quota opened for applications at 10am local time (6am in Beijing). But many people complained online that they couldn't open the official website half an hour before the opening.
The website was overloaded for hours, but some netizens were lucky enough to file the application. One netizen said on his Weibo that he had gotten in and made the payment.
By 3pm in Beijing, the quota for Chinese was full, according to the immigration website.
