(ECNS) -- New road isolation guardrails installed along Beijing's Chang'an Avenue have been hailed by netizens for their anti-shock capability.
Photos making a splash on Sina Weibo show a black vehicle after colliding with the guardrails in the middle of Chang'an Avenue. The front-left part of the car is severely damaged, while the guardrails are completely intact.
"It seems like the car was filed down to fragments on the ground," a citizen surnamed Zhang said, while the guardrails were only slightly moved.
Common guardrails would have been deformed or knocked down, he added.
The guardrails installed in April have been reinforced with impact-resistant barriers. Covered with an anti-corrosive and high strength material, the guardrails can bounce back even after being hit by cars.
Besides their strong anti-shock capability, the guardrails also feature attractive gold-colored designs carved with lotus flower patterns.
