(ECNS) – For the first time in China, smartphones have overtaken personal computers to become the number one tool for internet use.
According to a report by the China Internet Network Information Center, in the first half of 2014, 83.4 percent of people in China went online through their cell phones, surpassing the 80.9 percent for PC users.
Internet use through cell phones in 2014 has been 2.4 percentage points higher than that at the end of 2013. The percentages of people using desktop computers and laptops for internet declined to 69.6 and 43.7 percent respectively.
