(ECNS) -- China has become the second largest source country for immigrants to New Zealand, according to skykiwi.com, a New Zealand-based Chinese-language website, citing a report of The New Zealand Herald.
A total of 6,300 Chinese people immigrated to New Zealand in the year to June, just second to 7,000 Indian immigrants.
New Zealand gained a net 38,300 immigrants in the year through June, hitting a record high since October 2013.
In addition, the number of short-term visitor arrivals rose 2 percent to a record 1.6 million for a month in June, thanks to increasing visitors from China and Japan.
