(ECNS) – China's TV watchers will see a wave of patriotic and anti-fascism-themed TV shows in the following two months.
The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has issued a notice ordering TV stations to screen shows featuring more patriotic content from September 3 to the end of October.
According to the SARFT, patriotic TV shows should promote the protection of the home country, as well as entrepreneurship and innovation. Anti-fascism programs often depict anti-Japanese and anti-German battles in World War II, according to an employee at Dragon TV.
Big local stations such as Hunan TV and Dragon TV must show anti-fascist programs during primetime, while smaller TV stations are required to show patriotic content at primetime, and decide showtimes for anti-fascist material.
Scheduled TV dramas can stick to their original time slots as stations decide which days to screen patriotic programs.
