(ECNS) -- China launched a national platform on Monday to help match charity needs with resources.
This platform operates much like a securities exchange, matching charity projects with donors, according to Hou Yisha, deputy chief of Shenzhen's Bureau of Civil Affairs.
"China's charity development is speeding up, but problems still exist in low resource allocation efficiency as well as low public awareness and involvement," said Zhan Chengfu, head of China's Ministry of Social Welfare and Charity Promotion Department.
The platform will help make charity fundraising and donations transparent. Assessment agencies involved with the platform will furthermore provide advice on applications, project selection and resource matching.
The initiative has teamed up with China's Internet giants, including Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba to promote charitable causes.
