(ECNS) – Quebec has reopened its Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) despite the Canadian government's decision to close its immigration program.
According to the official government website, selection criteria remain the same, and new applications will be received between January 5 and 30, 2015. A maximum of 1,750 applications will be accepted for review, and no more than 1,200 applicants will be accepted from any one country. However, there's no cap for investors who speak at least a high-intermediate level of French.
A lottery program has been replaced with a new selection process. Quotas will be allocated to designated fund companies, which will assess the applications and pick qualified ones.
People with a minimum of $1.6 million CAD in total net assets and at least two years experience in managing a legal business are eligible to apply.
As the Quebec program usually attracts nearly 10,000 applicants from the Chinese mainland alone, those interested are encouraged to complete their applications as soon as possible.
